UEFA Champions League Final Preview: Inter Milan vs. PSG

We have a different-looking Champions League final than we are used to, with Inter Milan and PSG set to battle it out on May 31st. Inter Milan looked down and out when falling down by 3 goals to 2 in the second leg of their semifinal against Barca in the 87th minute, only to level things up 3 minutes into added time, before snatching the winner in extra time. Overall, it was 7-6 on aggregate, making it one of the greatest Champions League ties we have ever seen.

Paris St. Germain had things a little easier, opening up with a 1-0 win away at Arsenal, before winning 2-1 at home in the second leg. They have never won this tournament before, despite fielding Messi and Neymar on their roster not too long ago. This is the tournament that has always evaded them, and they will be desperate for a win.

The Parisians are comfortably clear at the top of Ligue 1, as per usual, sitting on 78 points, while Marseille have just 59 in second. Over in Italy, Inter are in second place on 74 points, 3 behind Napoli on 77. They could be in for an incredible couple of months if they somehow win both the Champions League and Serie A.

Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez are the team’s top goalscorers with 14 and 12 in Serie A, respectively, but it is Martinez who has been on point in Europe, notching 9 goals in his 13 games played. That is good enough for fifth best in the tournament. The main man for Paris has to be superstar Ousmane Dembele, who has notched 21 goals in Ligue 1, and 8 in the Champions League. There is certainly going to be plenty of star power on the field when these two teams meet.

Currently, the bookies have PSG pegged as favorites at +125, compared to +220 for Inter. That certainly makes sense given the star-studded roster for the Parisians, but it’s hard to imagine Inter not putting up a fight. Perhaps a PSG win with both teams to score is a good way to find some better value at +350.
