NEW YORK KNICKS

The New York Knicks were founded in 1946 as one of the original members of the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which later became the NBA when it merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949. The Knicks experienced success early and made three trips to the NBA Finals in the early 1950s.

The Knicks, one of two NBA teams still in its original city, reached the NBA playoffs in 14 consecutive seasons between 1988 and 2001. They failed to win an NBA title. The team’s last NBA championship came in 1973, but the Knicks played for NBA titles twice in the 1990s.

New York is a popular draw and is featured on national broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN+, ABC, and TNT. Fans can watch regional games on TV on the MSG Network. Fans can live stream the complete Knicks schedule using MSG Go or by going to NBA.tv.

HOME OF THE KNICKS

Madison Square Garden has been home to the Knicks since their beginning though the team did play some of its home games at the 69th Regiment Armory in the 1950s. The Knicks have thrived in the NBA playoffs qualifying in 42 different seasons. New York has won the Eastern Conference eight times (1951, 1952, 1953, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1994, and 1999). In the early 1970s, the Knicks played in three NBA Finals in four years winning two (1970, 1973).

He did it in 1970, the same year he was named All-NBA First Team and All-Defensive First Team. Reed would lead the Knicks to two NBA titles, earn seven selections to the NBA All-Star Game and finish his Hall of Fame career with averages of 18.7 points and 12.9 rebounds per game.

Patrick Ewing is the Knicks all-time leading scorer with 23,665 points during his 16-year career in New York. Ewing was the first overall selection in the 1985 NBA draft.
