Seattle Mariners Schedule
Seattle Mariners
Founded in 1977 and playing in the American League West Division, the Seattle Mariners are the only Major League Baseball team based in the Pacific Northwest. The Mariners play their home games at T-Mobile Park, but have not yet managed to secure an American League Pennant or World Series title for their fanbase. Whether you’re looking to watch the Seattle Mariners live on TV today or planning ahead for future games, this guide has you covered.
What Channel is the Mariners Game on Tonight?
Most Seattle Mariners games are broadcast on ROOT Sports Northwest, the regional sports network covering Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and parts of Montana and Idaho. Local fans will also be able to enjoy other regional matches featuring the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Kraken on ROOT Sports Northwest, making it a great companion all year long.
The only Mariners games that won’t be on ROOT Sports Northwest are those that are nationally televised. These games will air on one of the following networks:
- ESPN: Select nationally broadcast MLB games and Sunday Night Baseball.
- TBS: Tuesday Night MLB games throughout the regular season.
- FOX: 20 Saturday late afternoon or evening games, and four Thursday night games.
- MLB Network: 26 MLB Network Showcase games - blackout restrictions apply for in-market fans.
How to Stream Mariners Games Online
Unfortunately, ROOT Sports Northwest does not have a direct streaming service for fans to subscribe to, meaning you will instead need to sign up for either Fubo TV or DirectTV Stream. Both of these TV streaming providers have Root Sports Northwest as part of their extensive channel portfolio, alongside all the national broadcasters you need for those more high-profile games. These aren’t cheap, but are a great option for any local fan who wants as much access to Mariner’s games as possible.
MLB.TV is the best option for fans outside of the region, allowing them to watch every out-of-market Mariners game live. On top of this, users will get every single out-of-market MLB game, which makes it a top option for die-hard MLB fans who want as much action as possible. Unfortunately, Mariners games broadcast locally on ROOT Sports Northwest will be blacked out in the region, but full game replays are available shortly after the final out.
If you're looking for a more affordable way to watch select Mariners games while also gaining access to other sports and entertainment content, consider one of these additional streaming services. Home of the Mariners
Seattle initially played in the Kingdome which also housed the NFL’s Seahawks. In 1999, the Mariners moved into T-Mobile Park located in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood. The ballpark was originally known as Safeco Field. In 2018 the naming rights for the stadium were sold to T-Mobile. The ballpark seats 47,929 fans for Mariners games.
History of the Mariners
It took 19 years for the Mariners to win their first division championship – the AL West title – in 1995. Seattle had never finished higher than third in the division until 1995. The Mariners had a nice run of seven seasons from 1995 to 2001 where they won the franchise’s only three division crowns. In those seven seasons, the Mariners never finished lower than third in the division.
Seattle has never won an MLB league championship series. The club did earn a playoff spot in 2000 as an MLB wild card. The Mariners finished second in their division that season and won their AL Division Series against the Chicago White Sox. They lost to the Yankees in six games in the ALCS.
Any mention of the Mariners greatest players begins with “Junior,” or Ken Griffey Jr. He was the first pick of the Mariners in the 1989 MLB draft. Griffey played 13 of his 22 MLB seasons with Seattle. He was one of the game’s most prolific long ball hitters ending his career with 630 home runs, which is seventh-best all-time. Griffey was an All-Star in 10 of his seasons in Seattle and was named the 1997 AL MVP. He led the AL in home runs four times all as a member of the Mariners.
Edgar Martinez played his entire 18-year MLB career in Seattle. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019, Martinez is one of just 18 MLB players to record a career batting average of at least .300 (.312), on-base percentage of .400, and a slugging percentage of .500 in 5,000 or more plate appearances. Martinez was a seven-time All-Star, a five-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and was the AL batting champion twice (1992, 1995).
Pitcher Randy Johnson spent 10 seasons in Seattle. He was a five-time All-Star while a Mariner and won the first of his five Cy Young Awards pitching for Seattle in 1995.
