New York Yankees

The New York Yankees are the most successful franchise in Major League Baseball history, treating their fans to a whopping 27 World Series titles. Home games are played at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, and the team has been operating in the American League East Division since 1969. Whether you're looking to watch the New York Yankees live on TV today or planning ahead for future games, this guide has everything you need.

What Channel is the Yankees Game on Tonight?

The New York Yankees can be viewed by home fans primarily on the Yankee Entertainment and Sports Network, otherwise known as YES Network, covering New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and parts of Pennsylvania. In addition to Yankees games, YES Network also airs Brooklyn Nets NBA games, New York Liberty WNBA games, New York City FC MLS games, and other soccer matches.

However, Yankees games that are broadcast nationally will not air on YES Network. Instead, they will be available on one of the following networks:

  • ESPN: Select nationally broadcast MLB games and Sunday Night Baseball.
  • TBS: Tuesday Night MLB games throughout the regular season.
  • FOX: 20 Saturday late afternoon or evening games, and four Thursday night games.
  • MLB Network: 26 MLB Network Showcase games - blackout restrictions apply for in-market fans.

How to Stream Yankees Games Online

The good news for Yankees fans is that YES Network launched their direct-to-consumer streaming service in 2023, giving fans 24/7 access to the YES Network feed. This merged into Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment (GAME) in 2024.

However, to watch nationally televised games, you’ll need to expand your streaming options. To make your decision easier, we recommend subscribing to Fubo or DirecTV Stream. These are currently the only two streaming services that carry YES Network, while also offering the national broadcast channels needed to watch every Yankees game.

If you ever need to know how to watch the New York Yankees game tonight, you can find up-to-date broadcast details on our MLB page.

For fans outside of the Yankees’ regional market, MLB.TV is the best option for catching every Yankees game throughout the season, in addition to the rest of the MLB schedule. The service provides access to every single out-of-market game, but Yankees games within the New York market will be blacked out. Don’t worry though, full game replays are uploaded shortly after the game finishes.

If you’re looking for a more affordable way to watch select Yankees games while also gaining access to other sports and entertainment content, we would recommend one of these additional streaming services:

  • ESPN+: One out-of-market game per day throughout the regular season
  • Roku: MLB Sunday Leadoff - Broadcasting early Sunday afternoon games during the regular season.
  • Fox Sports App: Stream any games shown on FOX, but requires a TV provider login.
  • TBS Sports App: Stream Tuesday night games on TBS.
  • Apple TV+: Stream Friday Night Baseball exclusive games.

Home of the Yankees

The Yankees played at the legendary Polo Grounds until 1923 when they began an 85-year run at the original Yankee Stadium. In 2009, they moved into their current home – Yankee Stadium. The second version of Yankee Stadium is located a block north of its predecessor and includes many of the same design elements of the original.

The new Yankee Stadium has undergone some changes and renovations since opening in 2009. Currently, the stadium seats 47,309 fans.

History of the Yankees

As stated previously, the Yankees have a long history of success. They have won 40 MLB league championship series, the most recent of which was in 2009. That is also the last year in which the franchise won the MLB World Series. In addition to their 19 AL East Division titles, the Yankees have also earned an MLB wild card on seven occasions (1995, 1997, 2007, 2010, 2015, 2017, and 2018).

From 1949 to 1953, the Yankees won five straight World Series titles, the longest such streak in MLB history. New York is the last team to have won consecutive World Series championships. The Yankees won three straight in 1998, 1999, and 2000.

The Yankees organization has been so successful that over 50 players with an affiliation to the club have been enshrined into the Hall of Fame. There may be no more recognizable name associated with the Yankees than Babe Ruth. He was first a pitcher when he played in Boston and developed as one of the game’s greatest home run hitters after being traded to the Yankees.

Ruth was the AL home run leader 12 different times and ended his career with the most home runs in MLB history (since broken). Ruth was the AL MVP in 1923 and won a total of seven MLB World Series titles, four with New York.

Lou Gehrig was well-known for his hitting ability and his durability. He set a record for consecutive games played (2,130, since broken). Gehrig was a seven-time All-Star and was twice the AL MVP (1927, 1936). He won the Triple Crown in 1934 and was part of six Yankees World Series championships.
