INTER MIAMI CF

The Inter Miami CF franchise is one of the newest in Major League Soccer having played its first season in 2020. The club was founded in January 2018, the culmination of a long, grueling process that started late in 2012.

There were talks of putting an MLS franchise in Miami in 2012 and it became reality in 2013 when former MLS great David Beckham was identified as a potential owner. Beckham had an option in his player contract which allowed him to purchase an expansion team for $25 million when he retired from play.

In 2018, it was announced the Miami Beckham United Group was awarded a franchise in the city. Beckham, who also serves as team president, is part of an ownership group – now called Miami Freedom Park LLC – that includes Marcelo Claure, Masasyoshi Son, and Jorge and Jose Mas.

Fans can watch Inter Miami CF games on TV and stream games from a number of different platforms. National broadcasts are shown on ESPN and ESPN2. Subscribers to ESPN+ can also watch on that network. The Inter Miami CF complete schedule can be watched via live stream on ESPN+ as well as a number of other network apps such as ABC and FOX. Full game replays are available 48 hours after a match on ESPN+.

HOME OF INTER MIAMI CF

The current home of Inter Miami CF is the 18,000-seat Inter Miami CF Stadium. The venue is a temporary home for the club until the Miami Freedom Park is completed. Inter Miami CF Stadium is built on the site of the former Lockhart Stadium. That was the old home of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League. Miami Freedom Park is to be completed by 2022. It is to be a 20,000-seat stadium that will be located on a tract of land close to Miami International Airport.
