What Channel is the Royals Game on Tonight?

Beginning in 2024, the FanDuel Sports Network is responsible for broadcasting Royals games for local fans. FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City gives local fans access to most Kansas City Royals games, whilst also broadcasting Sporting Kansas City clashes and other professional, collegiate, and high school sports events in the region. Any Royals games not shown on this regional sports network will be because they are being broadcast nationally, which means they will be shown on one of the following major network providers:
  • ESPN: Select nationally broadcast MLB games and Sunday Night Baseball.
  • TBS: Tuesday Night MLB games throughout the regular season.
  • FOX: 20 Saturday late afternoon or evening games, and four Thursday night games.
  • MLB Network: 26 MLB Network Showcase games - blackout restrictions apply for in-market fans.

How to Stream Royals Games Online

The best option for streaming fans is to subscribe directly to FanDuel Sports Network, which will allow local fans to watch every Kansas City Royals game that is not on one of the major, national broadcasters. You can subscribe to this with either a monthly or annual payment.

Subscribing to FanDuel Sports Network is a fantastic option for local fans, but it won’t give you access to every single Royals game. For that, you will need the national broadcasters, which can be found alongside FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City on either Fubo or DirectTV Stream. With a subscription to either of those streaming providers, Royals fans will gain access to all games throughout the regular season and playoffs. Information on how to watch Kansas City Royals live on TV today can be found on our MLB page.

For die-hard fans who want to open the doors to the schedules of the remaining MLB teams, MLB.TV is the best option. This gives fans access to every single out-of-market game throughout the entire season. While in-market games are subject to blackout restrictions for fans, full game replays are uploaded shortly after the final pitch.

If none of the above suit your television viewing needs, there are several other options to consider. All of the streaming services listed below provide access to select games throughout the season, alongside a wide array of other sports and entertainment channels.
  • ESPN+: One out-of-market game per day throughout the regular season
  • Roku: MLB Sunday Leadoff - Broadcasting early Sunday afternoon games during the regular season
  • Fox Sports App: Stream any games shown on FOX, but requires a TV provider login.
  • TBS Sports App: Stream Tuesday night games on TBS.
  • Apple TV+: Stream Friday Night Baseball exclusive games

Home of the Royals

Since 1973, the Royals have played at Kauffman Stadium, known locally as the “K.” Originally known as Royals Stadium, it was named after the team’s founder Ewing Kauffman in 1993. It is the sixth-oldest stadium in MLB and, after its last major renovation in 2009, now seats 37,903 spectators for Kansas City Royals games.

History of the Royals

As noted, the Royals won four division titles in five years early in their existence. Kansas City won the AL West in 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1980. They also won the division in 1984 and 1985. The Royals also won the AL Central in 2015 for a total of seven division crowns.

The Royals won four AL league championships in 1980, 1985, 2014, and 2015 with the team winning MLB World Series titles in 1985 and again 30 years later in 2015. The Royals also made the postseason as an MLB wild card in 2014.

George Brett first appeared for the Royals in 1973. When he retired after the 1993 season, he left as one of the game’s great hitters. Brett was a 13-time All-Star who won three AL batting titles (1976, 1980, and 1990). He was the AL MVP in 1980 and the MVP of the ALCS in 1985, the year he helped lead Kansas City to its first-ever World Series. Brett is still the only player to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame wearing the Royals cap.

Brett played 1,914 career games with second baseman Frank White who played his entire 18-year career with the Royals. White was a five-time All-Star and also a member of that 1985 Royals’ World Series team. White won eight Gold Gloves and was the MVP of the 1980 ALCS.

Willie Wilson was drafted by Kansas City and spent the first 15 years of his 19-year MLB career with the Royals. He had originally planned to play football at the University of Maryland but was drafted by Kansas City in the first round of the 1974 MLB draft. Wilson played in two All-Star games (1982, 1983) and was also a member of the 1985 World Series championship team. He was the AL batting champion in 1982 and the AL stolen base leader in 197.
