Top 3 Must-Watch Sporting Events This Weekend (Dec 6-7)

The Unai Emery legacy game will be massive for either side as the Premier League leaders take on the custodians of the final guaranteed Champions League spot in a clash of English Football titans. In the NFL, two division rivals will try and carry momentum from big-time wins last week into a contest with colossal playoff implications. On the opposite side of the globe, Lando Norris could finally break the Verstappen hegemony and seal his place in motorsports history.

Premier League: Arsenal FC vs Aston Villa

Arsenal couldn’t make the most of a man advantage against Chelsea, but still turned in a respectable weekend performance, and their momentum only grew with a convincing 2–0 win over Brentford in midweek. Aston Villa, meanwhile, edged out a wild 4–3 victory at Brighton, a far tougher trip that underscores the different levels of difficulty each side faced.

That contrast in fixtures slightly amplifies Arsenal’s talent advantage, especially with their match coming at home, though Villa’s form remains impossible to ignore. Emery’s side have now won 12 of their last 14 in all competitions, and with the added motivation of facing their manager’s former club, they are unlikely to shrink from the occasion. Arsenal is eager to protect their lead at the top, while Villa remain firmly in the Champions League race, and fully intent on staying there.

After a long, drawn-out battle for the driver’s championship, everything will be on the line this weekend in Abu Dhabi. Team McLaren has led the way for most of the year. Still, Max Verstappen has been gaining ground on Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri since the midpoint of the season, overtaking the latter after a dramatic win in the Qatar GP. 

Lando Norris’ fate is entirely in his own hands: earn a podium finish, and he wins the driver's championship. If Norris fails to reach the podium, he then opens a can of worms that could potentially see his teammate Piastri win the title. However, more likely than not in that scenario, Verstappen would dramatically overtake the McLaren boys. This would be the Dutchman’s 5th consecutive driver’s championship if that were to be the case. Either way, this one will go down to the wire.  

NFL: Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers

They’ll be desperate to improve their 1-2 record against divisional opponents this season, and what better opportunity to do so than against a team that has gone undefeated in the NFC North this year. The Packers are coming off a commanding Thanksgiving Day win at Ford Field and will be looking to build momentum with their eyes firmly trained on a spot in the postseason.
