NBA 2024/25 Season Preview: Key Storylines & Schedule Highlights
Fall is such a great time of year for sports fanatics. The NFL is rolling, and, now that October is here, we get to look forward to another great season of NBA action as well. There are so many intriguing storylines to watch out for in the upcoming 2024/25 NBA season, and in this article, we are going to preview the upcoming season and giving you the lowdown on what to look out for.
2024-25 NBA Season Preview
The Boston Celtics finally got it done in 2024, after 9 straight seasons of painful playoff exits. They are, of course, the team to beat yet again, and with the monkey off their back, does that make them even more dangerous? Led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and with Jrue Holiday at the helm of their defense, Boston’s daunting core remains intact. As always, health will be the only thing that can stop them from making a good run at the title.
One of the biggest offseason moves saw Karl-Anthony Towns head to New York to join the Knicks, teaming up with Jalen Brunson to give them a boost. The Knicks currently stand as the third favorites according to the bookies, with betting odds of +750. Is this the year for them? It will be fascinating to see if they can push the Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
Over in the West, the race is going to be incredibly tense. Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP winner, will lead the Denver Nuggets as they attempt to defend their conference title, but it won't be easy. The Oklahoma City Thunder are tipped for a good year this year, helped massively by the additions of Alex Caruso and Isaiah Hartenstein in the offseason. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks are always a team to be taken seriously, led by Luka Doncic, and benefitting from the arrival of Klay Thompson.
One team that will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign is the Milwaukee Bucks. They were hit with some key injuries, none more-so than that of Giannis Antekounmpo in the playoffs, and they definitely have the talent to turn things around in 2024-25. Overall, this is looking like a fantastic season of NBA action to look forward to, with great depth in the Western Conference in particular. Who’s your money on?
