Peacock Streaming Review: Plans, Pricing and Sports Rights

Peacock streaming review: Plans, pricing and sports rights

Peacock is a strong option for sports fans who regularly follow NBC’s coverage, particularly viewers interested in the NFL, English Premier League and major golf events throughout the year. It combines live sports with an extensive entertainment library, making it more versatile than a sports-only subscription.

However, Peacock is best viewed as a complement to other TV or streaming services rather than a complete replacement. Some events are exclusive to Peacock, while others are also shown on NBC or its related networks. The service is also not included with most major live TV streaming packages, meaning a separate subscription may be required.

Sports access starts with Peacock Premium, while the cheaper Select plan does not include live sports. Whether Peacock offers good value will therefore depend largely on which competitions you follow and how often its exclusive coverage matters to you.

This guide explains Peacock’s current plans, sports rights, supported devices, and availability through other providers, helping you decide whether it belongs in your sports streaming lineup.

What sports are available on Peacock?

Peacock’s sports lineup combines events shown simultaneously on NBC with games and coverage available exclusively through the streaming service. However, a Peacock subscription does not provide every game from every league listed below. Coverage changes by season, competition and media-rights agreement, and Peacock is primarily available to viewers located in the United States and certain US territories.

NFL and College Football

Peacock streams NBC’s NFL coverage, including every Sunday Night Football game carried by NBC, selected playoff games and the Football Night in America studio show. The platform also normally carries an exclusive national NFL game during the season. It does not include every NFL game, so fans may still need other networks, streaming services or out-of-market packages for broader coverage.

College football coverage includes Big Ten games and Notre Dame football. Some games are simulcast on NBC, while others are exclusive to Peacock. Availability follows the college football season and does not extend to every game involving a Big Ten or Notre Dame team.

NBA, WNBA and College Basketball

Peacock carries a selection of NBA games under NBCUniversal’s current agreement with the league. Coverage includes games also shown on NBC, exclusive Peacock Monday games during the regular season and selected playoff games. Peacock is therefore not a replacement for NBA League Pass or a service carrying every national and local game.

WNBA coverage is also available across NBC and Peacock from the 2026 season. As with the NBA, Peacock carries games included in NBCUniversal’s national package rather than the entire league schedule.

College basketball coverage includes selected men’s and women’s games from conferences such as the Big Ten, Big East and Big 12. Many of these games stream exclusively on Peacock, while others are shared with NBCUniversal television channels. Coverage is concentrated during the college basketball season and includes selected conference tournament games, but not every game from the participating conferences.

Premier League and other soccer

Peacock is an important streaming destination for Premier League fans in the United States. It carries games that are exclusive to Peacock, simulstreams games shown on the NBC broadcast network and offers studio programming and full-game replays. However, not every Premier League game is shown live on Peacock, as parts of the schedule are carried by other NBCUniversal channels.

Some Premier League coverage is also available in Spanish through NBCUniversal’s partnership with Telemundo and Universo. Language options and availability can vary by game. Peacock also carries selected other soccer competitions when NBCUniversal or Telemundo holds the relevant US rights, but these should be checked individually rather than assumed to be part of the subscription year-round.

Major League Baseball

Peacock’s MLB coverage includes Sunday Night Baseball, MLB Sunday Leadoff and selected national events. Some games are simulcast on NBC, while others are shown through Peacock and NBCUniversal’s other sports channels. Special events may also receive broader Peacock coverage, but the service does not carry every regular-season game or replace MLB.TV for out-of-market viewing.

Golf

Golf coverage on Peacock includes selected PGA Tour events and major championships covered by NBC Sports. Depending on the tournament, the platform may simulstream NBC coverage and provide additional early-round coverage, featured groups, Multiview feeds or extended streams that are not available on the main broadcast network.

The golf offering varies considerably from one tournament to another. Peacock does not include every PGA Tour event or every hour shown by Golf Channel, so viewers should check the schedule for the coverage provided during each tournament.

Cycling, motorsports and horse racing

Peacock carries extensive seasonal cycling coverage. For the 2026 Tour de France, Peacock and NBCSN provide start-to-finish coverage of every stage, along with full-stage replays, highlights and recaps. Rights and coverage for other cycling events may differ.

Motorsports coverage includes SuperMotocross and IMSA. Peacock provides particularly comprehensive SuperMotocross coverage, including races, qualifying and heats, while much of its IMSA schedule is also exclusive to the platform. NASCAR coverage is shared across NBCUniversal platforms, meaning individual races may appear on NBC, USA Network, Peacock or a combination of services.

Peacock also carries selected horse racing, including the Kentucky Derby, Triple Crown coverage and qualifying or preparatory events during the racing calendar. Some coverage is simulcast on NBC, while additional hours may be available through Peacock.

Olympics, Paralympics and other major events

Peacock serves as one of NBCUniversal’s main US streaming platforms during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The amount of coverage increases significantly during a Games period, with live events, replays, dedicated hubs and interactive viewing options. Olympic coverage is event-based, however, rather than a continuous year-round sports offering.

Coverage changes throughout the year as seasons begin, tournaments conclude and media rights are updated. Check the Peacock sports schedule for the events currently available to stream.

Which peacock plan do sports fans need?

Sports fans should choose Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus. The cheaper Peacock Select plan does not include the service’s live sports and events, despite carrying selected NBC and Bravo entertainment programming.

For most sports viewers, Peacock Premium is the most suitable option. It includes Peacock’s live sports and full entertainment library with advertising. Premium Plus includes the same core sports coverage rather than a separate or expanded sports package.

The additional cost of Premium Plus primarily provides fewer ads on most on-demand programming, eligible offline downloads and access to a live local NBC station. It does not remove the regular commercial breaks shown during live sports, special events or linear channels.

Devices and viewing experience

Peacock can be watched through supported web browsers, mobile devices, tablets, smart TVs, streaming devices and game consoles. Supported platforms include iOS, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast and Google TV, along with selected Samsung, LG and Vizio televisions, PlayStation and Xbox devices. Device requirements can change, so older hardware and operating-system versions may eventually lose support.

Finding live events and replays

Major live events are generally presented through Peacock’s Sports area and relevant competition hubs. Select live events can also be saved to My Stuff, which can make upcoming coverage easier to find later.

Replay availability depends on the sport and the underlying rights agreement. Premier League coverage includes full-game replays, while properties such as SuperMotocross and the Tour de France offer extensive race or stage replays. Viewers should not assume that every live event will remain available on demand or that every replay will be available indefinitely.

Picture quality, advertising and interactive features

Peacock supports selected programming in 4K Ultra HD on compatible devices, but 4K is not guaranteed for every sport or event. Picture quality can also depend on the device, internet connection and production format used for the broadcast.

Both Premium and Premium Plus viewers should expect commercial breaks during live sports. Premium Plus reduces advertising across much of the on-demand library, but live events and linear channels remain subject to ads.

Interactive tools are available for selected events rather than across the entire sports catalog. Depending on the competition, these can include Multiview, key-play catch-up features, alternate presentations and on-screen data. Peacock has used these features for Premier League, NBA, golf, Olympics and major soccer events, but availability varies by event and device.

Closed captions are available across supported Peacock content through the player’s Audio & Subtitles menu. Language options depend on the broadcast, with some Telemundo-produced sports offered primarily or exclusively in Spanish.

Streams, downloads and account management

A Peacock account supports up to three simultaneous streams. This makes it possible for different household members to watch separate programming at the same time, although household and device rules still apply.

Premium Plus subscribers can download eligible on-demand content for offline viewing, with up to 25 downloaded items across their devices at one time. Downloads should not be confused with a DVR: live sports cannot simply be recorded and stored for later viewing, and not every title is eligible.

Customers who subscribe directly through Peacock can change or cancel their plan through the Plans & Payment area of their online account. Anyone billed through another company may need to manage the subscription through that provider instead. Access normally continues until the end of the current billing period following cancellation.

Peacock’s strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Strong NBC Sports coverage: Peacock provides access to major NBC properties including Sunday Night Football, the Premier League, NBA, MLB, golf and college sports.
  • Peacock-exclusive events: Some games and supplementary feeds cannot be watched through NBC or a standard live-TV service.
  • Sports without a full channel bundle: Premium gives viewers access to a substantial sports lineup through a standalone subscription.
  • Entertainment is included: The same subscription also provides movies, NBC and Bravo programming and Peacock Originals.
  • Useful features for selected events: Multiview, full replays and alternate presentations can add value when supported.

Limitations

  • It does not include every game: Peacock only carries the events covered by NBCUniversal’s rights, not complete NFL, NBA, MLB or college schedules.
  • It is not a full replacement for NBCUniversal’s channels: Some events remain on channels or services that are not fully included as continuous live feeds within Peacock.
  • Premium Plus is not completely ad-free: Live sports and linear channels continue to include commercial breaks.
  • Other services may still be needed: Fans following local teams, out-of-market games or sports owned by competing broadcasters will need additional subscriptions.

Who is Peacock best for?

Peacock is particularly well suited to viewers who regularly watch NBC Sports programming. That includes Premier League fans, Sunday Night Football viewers, followers of NBC’s NBA and MLB coverage, golf fans and viewers interested in Big Ten or Notre Dame sports. It is also valuable when an important game or event is being shown exclusively on Peacock.

The service is likely to offer better household value when viewers also want NBC and Bravo shows, movies and Peacock Originals. In that situation, the subscription serves both as a sports service and a broader entertainment platform.

Peacock is less suitable as a household’s only source of live sports. Fans who want every game from a particular league, comprehensive local-team coverage, a full lineup of cable sports channels or a traditional cloud DVR will normally need a broader live-TV service or league-specific package alongside Peacock.
