Cleveland Browns 2025 Season Preview: Star Players, Key Matchups & Where to Watch

Cleveland was wholly disappointing in 2024, coming off an 11-win campaign the year prior. 

There was no huge dropoff from Myles Garrett; in fact, some other important pieces stepped up big time on offense, but the team was unable to battle through injuries and QB drama, instead settling for just three wins last time out. 

This offseason, they’ve only added to the QB carousel, creating one of the most compelling narratives in all of sports. As the season inches closer, there is still no clear QB1, and the Browns will need a miracle to avoid another catastrophe in 2025.

🏈 Week 1 (Sept 7) - vs Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have developed a reputation for slow starts, something which Cleveland can capitalize on in their season opener. Cincinnati has won the last three “Battles for Ohio,” and Cleveland will hope to buck that trend.

Cleveland will have to face the entire NFC North in 2025, but this game against the Vikings in London provides a rare opportunity for the Browns to make a statement on the international stage.

By this point in the season, with a–hopefully–stable QB situation, the Browns should be better equipped to handle a stacked Ravens team.

On the bright side, Cleveland does get one standalone game, when they play the Vikings in London. Unfortunately, the Browns’ only prior experience abroad ended in a loss in 2017, which was also against Minnesota in London.

🧠 Final Thought: Can they stay afloat in the AFC North?

There is minimal optimism surrounding these Browns, and a lot of that stems from the uncertainty under center. Once they have that sorted, if Flacco, Shedeur, or Dillon Gabriel can prove themselves to be that guy, they should be able to steady the ship. The defense was heavily reinforced in the draft and should be able to keep them in games this season. But with a tough schedule ahead, there’s no telling how close the Browns are to turning things around for good.
