MLB 2020 – Road to the final

It has been a strange season of the MLB in many ways. The Covid virus has affected the league like everything else and instead of playing the normal 162-games season it was decided that the 2020 season will be shortened to 60 games per team. Another major change that was brought up was to expand the postseason playoff to 16 teams instead of the normal 10-team format.

For Los Angeles Dodgers the playoffs began with a two-game battle against Milwaukee Brewers. The Dodgers didn’t have any problems with the Brewers (2-0) and went on to beat San Diego Padres with 3-0 in a best of five games series. So far not a single loss for Los Angeles Dodgers who faced Atlanta Braves in the League Championship Series, the game leading up to the World Series. Against the Braves it got tougher but after seven games the Dodgers were able to walk off with a 4-3 win and claim a spot in the final.

Tampa Bay Rays started off the playoffs by knocking out Toronto Blue Jays (2-0). After that it was time to face the New York Yankees. It was a close series that went all the way to the fifth and final game where the Rays were stronger. In the League Championship Series Tampa Bay Rays managed to defeat the Houston Astros, the series ending 4-3.

The 2020 World Series – Preview

It’s safe to say that the 2020 World Series will see the two best teams of the season battling it out. The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Rays winning percentage in the regular season combined is the highest ever to be represented in a World Series, 0,692.

Due to the Covid pandemic all games in the 2020 World Series will be played in Arlington, Texas, at Globe Life Field stadium. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium that has a capacity of just over 40 000. It was opened earlier this year and is home to Texas Rangers.

Going into the 2020 World Series the Los Angeles Dodgers are favourites to lift the trophy. They have proven throughout the regular season and the playoffs that they are a solid team. While the Dodgers had a relatively easy way to the final series, the Rays struggled in the League Championship Series where they were 3-0 up and still had to fight until the seventh game.
