NHL Local TV & Streaming Guide 2026-27: Every Team

How to Watch Local NHL Games in 2026-27: Regional TV & Streaming Guide

Finding an NHL game on national TV is relatively straightforward. Following the same team night after night is where things get more complicated.

Local NHL coverage in 2026-27 is spread across traditional regional sports networks, team-owned channels, free over-the-air stations and direct streaming services. Prime Video has also taken on a much bigger role this season, while several teams have changed broadcasters or launched entirely new local networks.

So, if you are trying to work out which channel or streaming service you need to follow your team, this guide is for you. Below you will find the local TV and streaming options for all 32 NHL teams, followed by the key details that are worth knowing before you subscribe.

For national games on ESPN, ABC and TNT Sports, see our 2026-27 NHL TV & Streaming Guide. For game-by-game listings throughout the season, our NHL TV and streaming schedule shows the confirmed broadcaster for every upcoming matchup.

How do local NHL broadcasts work?

Most NHL games that are not selected for exclusive national coverage are produced for the participating teams' regional markets.

If you live inside your team's TV territory, you need the local broadcaster or streaming service that holds the rights in that market. Depending on the team, that might be NESN, MSG, Prime Video, an over-the-air station or one of the newer team-specific services listed below.

If you live outside that territory in the U.S., the regional feed moves into the league's out-of-market package through NHL Power Play on ESPN+ or NHL Center Ice.

The important point is that your viewing location matters. ESPN+ does not replace your local broadcaster when you live inside a team's home television territory.

What has changed for local NHL coverage in 2026-27?

There are several changes worth knowing this season, particularly if you are returning to the same service you used last year.

  • Prime Video now has a much bigger role. Anaheim, Carolina, Columbus, Dallas, Minnesota and St. Louis all use Prime Video as a local streaming home in 2026-27. Seattle also continues to stream its regional games on Prime Video.
  • Prime access does not work the same way for every team. Ducks and Stars regional games are included for eligible Prime or Prime Video members. Hurricanes Hockey Network, Blue Jackets Hockey Network, Wild+ and Blue Note+ are separate team subscriptions available through Prime Video. You do not need a paid Amazon Prime membership to buy those team subscriptions.
  • MSG streaming has moved to DAZN. The Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Sabres remain on MSG Networks on television, but MSG+ on DAZN is now the direct streaming option inside their regional markets.
  • Several clubs now control their own local network or service. Hurricanes Hockey Network, Blue Jackets Hockey Network, Wild+, Blue Note+ and Detroit SportsNet are all part of the 2026-27 local setup.
  • Free over-the-air hockey is becoming more common. Anaheim, Florida, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Utah, Vegas and Seattle are among the teams with substantial local coverage available through free broadcast television. Other teams also use over-the-air stations for selected games.

Three California teams, three very different setups

California is a good example of why local NHL rights need to be checked team by team.

For the Anaheim Ducks, all regional games stream on Prime Video inside the Ducks market, while a large number are also shown free on FOX Los Angeles+ or FOX 11.

The Los Angeles Kings follows a different route. Angels Broadcast Television is the local TV broadcaster, with DAZN providing the direct streaming option for fans who do not use a traditional television package.

Further north, the San Jose Sharks remain with NBC Sports California. Its regional games can also be streamed through Peacock, with authenticated NBC Sports California subscribers able to use the NBC Sports app.

That means three teams in the same state require three different combinations of TV and streaming services.

New York is simpler, at least for streaming

The New York market has several NHL teams competing for viewers, but its streaming setup is more consistent.

MSG Networks remains the regional TV home for the Rangers, Islanders and Devils, as well as the Sabres further upstate. For 2026-27, all four are available locally through MSG+ on DAZN.

That means someone following the New York Rangers no longer needs the former Gotham Sports App for direct access to MSG's local games.

Pay-TV subscribers whose package includes MSG can continue to receive the network through their provider, while DAZN provides the direct-to-consumer route.

Free over-the-air NHL games are making a comeback

A local NHL broadcast no longer automatically means paying for a regional sports network. Several clubs now put most or all of their regional schedule on free broadcast stations alongside a streaming option.

Anaheim has 65 over-the-air games on FOX Los Angeles+ or FOX 11. Nashville's locally produced games air on The Spot - Nashville 28 and other stations across its territory. Vegas uses Vegas 34, Utah uses Utah 16 and the Kraken Hockey Network distributes Seattle games across a group of local stations led by KING and KONG.

Florida and Tampa Bay have also partnered with Scripps Sports to distribute regional games across their home markets.

An antenna can therefore be a genuine viewing option again in several NHL cities, rather than something reserved for nationally televised ABC games.

What if I live outside my team's local market?

If you live in the US but outside your team's regional television territory, locally produced games are available through NHL Power Play on ESPN+ or NHL Center Ice.

This also applies to Americans following Canadian teams. A fan in California following Edmonton, for example, does not need Sportsnet West to watch an eligible Oilers regional game. The US out-of-market feed is carried through ESPN+ or Center Ice.

Nationally exclusive games are separate and must be watched through the ESPN, ABC or TNT Sports platform carrying that game.

For the wider national and out-of-market setup, including ESPN's different streaming products, see our complete guide to watching the 2026-27 NHL season in the US.

Where does NHL Network fit in?

NHL Network adds one more wrinkle. The channel picks up selected regional broadcasts during the season and makes them available to viewers outside the participating teams' local markets.

When NHL Network has selected a regional game for its out-of-market schedule, that live game is not available through NHL Power Play on ESPN+ in those areas. You need NHL Network instead.

That is one reason the service carrying your team can change from one night to the next even when most of its games normally appear on ESPN+ outside the local market.

The quickest way to check an individual matchup is our NHL TV and streaming schedule, where each game's confirmed US broadcasters are listed.

NHL Local Broadcast FAQs

Are away games blacked out on ESPN+ too?

Yes. A regional blackout is based on where you are watching from, not whether your team is playing at home or away. If you are inside the team's local TV territory, its ESPN+ out-of-market feed is blocked.

Can one ZIP code be inside more than one NHL team's local market?

Yes. NHL broadcast territories can overlap, so viewers in certain areas can be considered in-market for more than one team.

Do I need cable to watch my local NHL team?

No. Many clubs now have a direct streaming service, a Prime Video option or free over-the-air coverage. Whether cable is useful depends on the broadcaster used by your team.

Does NHL Center Ice remove local blackouts?

No. NHL Center Ice is an out-of-market package. It does not replace the regional broadcaster for a team whose television territory includes your location.

Is there one streaming subscription that includes every team's local games?

No. Local rights are handled separately by each club and market. The service required for a Bruins fan in New England is different from the one needed by a Kings fan in Southern California or a Stars fan in Texas.

Can US viewers subscribe to TSN or Sportsnet to watch Canadian teams locally?

The Canadian regional services listed in the table are intended for their Canadian broadcast territories. US viewers follow eligible Canadian-team regional games through the NHL's US out-of-market options instead.
