Whilst there is not much information out there at the moment regarding broadcasting channels, you will find updated information on Livesportsontv.com as soon as it is released. For now, your best bet is to ensure that you have access to NHL Network and the ESPN+ feed, which look like the primary channels for the action right now.

NHL Network

NHL Network is a dream channel for hockey fans, providing comprehensive coverage of a wide array of hockey games, including NHL games and the US team’s World Championship clashes. Whether you are a passionate fan looking for detailed analysis of every game, or a casual fan just looking for the highlights, NHL Network has got you covered.

The channel is available with some streaming providers, so it is just a case of picking which package suits you the best.

  • fuboTV: $79.99 per month
  • DirectTV Stream: $89.99 per month
  • SlingTV: $40-$55 per month

ESPN+

ESPN+ is a bolt-on to the regular ESPN channels, which are included in the streaming packages listed above. With Ice Hockey World Championship games set to feature on ESPN+, it is certainly worth considering, at least for the duration of the tournament. Subscribers will also benefit from a wide array of other sports, and the app is widely available across devices. Prices for ESPN+ start at $11.99 per month, or $119.99 per year. Please note, ESPN+ does not give you access to the primary ESPN channels. It should very much be viewed as a separate, bolt-on to the ESPN offering.

ESPN App

The ESPN App is a fantastic tool for sports fans, with plenty of live and on-demand sports available to keep you entertained for hours. You’ll find football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and, of course, ice hockey on there, as well as some other more niche sports. The app does offer some free and premium content, but full use of the app is only available through having an ESPN+ or cable subscription.

Tournament Preview & Predictions

The Ice Hockey World Championship has not been a happy hunting ground for the United States, winning it just twice since its inception in 1920, if you include their Winter Olympic win in 1960, which doubled up as the World Championship that year. The States fall well behind their neighbors, Canada, who lead the way with 28 gold medals, closely followed by 27 for Russia.

The United States team has been knocking on the door though, landing nine silver medals and nine bronze medals, which tells the story of a team who are used to coming oh so close to getting the job done. However, the 2024 edition marked the first time that the US had finished outside of the top four since 2019, so they will be hoping to get back to winning ways this year.

Now, while many of Ice Hockey’s best players will miss the tournament because they are playing in the NHL playoffs, you do still get some pretty big names making an appearance. Matty Beniers, Logan Cooley, Cutter Gauthier, and Clayton Keller are all making an appearance this year, who were all top 10 picks in their respective NHL Drafts. Conor Garland, Alex Vlasic, Michael Kesselring, and several others have all featured in previous editions of this tournament, with-19 year-old Hampton Slukynsky representing as the youngest player on the team.

The group will begin training together in Germany on May 2nd, before kickstarting their tournament with the group stage on May 9th. The United States are in Group B, meaning they will initially be competing against Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, and Switzerland, to try and reach the knockout stages.

Host nation Sweden enter as the betting favorite at +275, closely followed by the world number one Canada at +300. USA are pegged to have a great shot at +350, with last year’s champions Czechia following behind them with odds of +600. It’s an open tournament for sure, which is great for us fans.
