Plenty of high-profile national teams are fighting for the chance to participate on the grandest stage. Meanwhile, the NBA has some playoff rematches this weekend that are worth keeping an eye on. In the NFL, an NFC heavyweight bout is on the cards in the city of Brotherly Love.

Top 3 Must-Watch Sporting Events This Weekend (Nov 15-16)

Several NFL division leaders have a chance to take control this weekend, with the AFC-leading Colts on a bye. It’s a perfect opportunity to make a statement and edge closer to locking up their titles. Over in the NBA, early-season surprises continue, and some of the West’s biggest names are out for revenge. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, World Cup qualification is on the line and entire nations are holding their breath.

FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Hungary vs Republic of Ireland

There’s no way around it, World Cup qualification could be a turning point for either nation. With Portugal already cruising to the top, a playoff spot is up for grabs.

Hungary has the stronger World Cup history but hasn’t qualified since 1986. They’ll look to recapture some magic at the Puskás Aréna, with Dominik Szoboszlai and club teammate Milos Kerkez leading the charge.

Ireland, last seen at the tournament in 2002, face an uphill climb - especially without Evan Ferguson. With tough games ahead against both Portugal and Hungary, the pressure is on.

Ant-Man foiled Denver’s hopes of a repeat the spring before last with some superhuman performances, and we could see an early installment of what is rapidly becoming an epic rivalry in the west this weekend, with two teams that have a lot to prove in 2025-26.

NFL: Detroit Lions @ Philadelphia Eagles

Two conference favorites in wildly different situations will take to the field in primetime for one of the most heavily anticipated regular-season games of the year. Most had expected this to be the NFC Championship game in 2025, but the Washington Commanders had other plans. Nevertheless, Detroit will be desperate for a win here to stay afloat in a competitive NFC North. After some brutal road losses against Kansas City and Green Bay, this matchup in Philly could put concerns over their consistency to bed.

The Eagles, meanwhile, lead their division by quite some margin. A win here would go a long way towards securing them a second straight NFC East crown, breaking a 20-season-long curse. These Lions may not be as feared as they were in 2025, but they are still a nightmare matchup for anyone and will provide a litmus test for Sirianni’s men when it comes to their standing amongst the rest of the conference.

  • FIFA Qualifiers - (2:25am ET, VIx, Fubo Sports, Sportsnet+, DAZN Canada): Kosovo vs Slovenia: Kosovo could make history and shock the world by seeing themselves through to the playoffs with a win.
  • Bareknuckle Boxing: Bareknuckle Fighting Championship - (9:00pm ET, FuboSports): Palm Desert hosts BKFC84, headlined by Josh Dyer defending his belt against Lorenzo Hunt, the very man responsible for the single loss on his otherwise spotless record.
  • NBA - (15:00pm ET, NBA League Pass, NBATV, FDSN Wisconsin, Spectrum Sportsnet, CBS 58 Milwaukee) Los Angeles Lakers @ Milwaukee Bucks: Two sides that are respected in their conferences, but have disappointed in the playoffs, will do battle, as LeBron could finally make it back on the court in Milwaukee.

  • NFL - (1:00pm ET, Paramount +, CBS, NFL Network, NFL+): Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Buffalo Bills: Tampa is out to prove itself against AFC opponents after a tough loss to New England, while the Bills hope to bounce back from a horrendous showing in Miami. 
  • FIFA Qualifiers - (2:45pm ET, Vix, DAZN Canada): Italy vs Norway: The azzuri will be desperate to get back at Norway, who embarrassed them on the opening matchday.
