Since first acquiring rights for sports back in 2017, Amazon Prime has become a major player within sports broadcasting. For fans of so many different sports, Prime is yet another necessary subscription service that provides plenty of action from their sport of choice. But, are you one of those fans? Is your favorite sport on Prime Video?

In this guide, we will explain everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Video, what sports it features, and how you can access it. So, if you want to know about sports on Amazon Prime Video, read on.

Can I watch live sports on Amazon Prime?

Yes, Amazon Prime has access to live sports. Whether you’re a fan of football, basketball, baseball, soccer, or so many other sports, an Amazon Prime subscription will get you closer to the action and allow you to keep up with your favorite teams and players.

What sports are on Prime?

Amazon Prime Video subscribers can enjoy a variety of sports, including action from the NFL, NBA, National Women’s Soccer League, NASCAR, and more.

  • NFL on Prime Video: Amazon Prime offers a wide range of sports. For starters, Prime remains the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football, giving the service a slice of NFL action during every week of the NFL season. The channel also has a game on Black Friday every year, as well as one game from the Wild Card Round.
  • NBA on Prime Video: Prime also currently shows 66 regular-season NBA games during the season, meaning there is plenty for basketball fans to enjoy. Not only that, but Prime Video also carries the Emirates NBA Cup and is the exclusive home of the SoFi Play-In Tournament, while also showing select games from the early rounds of the NBA Playoffs.
  • Soccer on Prime Video: Prime Video offers access to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), showing 25 games on Friday nights throughout the regular season. On top of that, subscribers will be able to enjoy the NWSL Challenge Cup, and one quarterfinal playoff game.
  • Other Sports on Prime Video: For fans of golf, Prime also has access to two hours of additional coverage of The Masters from Augusta, prior to the ESPN broadcast going live. Elsewhere, Prime also has the rights to the mixed martial arts promotion ONE Championship, as well as events from Premier Boxing Champions. NASCAR fans will also be able to watch five NASCAR Cup Series races in the middle of the season, including the Coca-Cola 600.
  • Regional Sports on Prime Video: If you live in the relevant markets, Prime is the place to catch selected New York Yankees games in MLB or Seattle Kraken games in the NHL.

Do I have to pay for sports on Prime?

Yes, in order to watch these sports, you’ll need either an Amazon Prime membership or a standalone Prime Video subscription. Amazon Prime costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year, while Prime Video is also available on its own for $8.99 per month.

If you want the ad-free version, Amazon now offers Prime Video Ultra for an additional $4.99 per month on top of either option. That means the total cost is $19.98 per month with a monthly Prime membership, or $13.98 per month if you subscribe to Prime Video as a standalone service. Note that live sports broadcasts may still include commercials, even with Ultra.

By paying this, you’ll immediately get access to all of the above, as well as the rest of the entertainment offered by Prime. There is a wide range of TV series, including The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power and Fallout, while also offering a lot of interesting sporting documentaries. Golf fans will enjoy ‘Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait’, while NFL and soccer fans may want to keep an eye on the ‘All or Nothing’ series.
