NFL Preseason: Los Angeles Rams @ Cleveland Browns

  • Day: Saturday, August 23rd
  • Time: 1 PM ET
  • Channel: CW, NFL Network, ABC

In the final slate of preseason games, the Browns could offer further insight into their quarterback situation. Joe Flacco was announced as the Week 1 starter, but we could get a look at the succession planning against the Rams. Both rookie QBs, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, have staked their claim to the backup job, but this weekend could be the decider. The Rams, on the other hand, have won both of their preseason matchups, which sheds some light on their troubling QB situation as well. Matthew Stafford is finally practicing in full, but there have been no convincing status updates with regards to his back injury. Stetson Bennett has filled in admirably, and could end up rivalling Jimmy Garoppolo for playing time if Stafford isn’t good to go come week 1.

Premier League: Manchester City vs Tottenham

  • When: Saturday, August 23rd
  • Time: 7:30 AM ET
  • Channel: NBC Universo, USA Network

Both sides opened the 2025-26 campaign with resounding wins last weekend and will look to keep their early momentum going after falling short of expectations last season. For Manchester City, the first order of business is getting their new signings up to speed. That didn’t seem to be an issue against Wolves, with midfielder Tijani Reijnders even getting on the scoresheet, but against tough opposition, it could prove a sticking point.

For Tottenham, they’ll hope to remain City’s bogey team for years to come, as they enter a new era under manager Thomas Frank. Spurs, too, have their fair share of fresh faces and will be without James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski for the early goings.

MLB: Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees

  • When: Saturday, August 23rd
  • Time: 1:05 pm ET
  • Channel: YES, NESN, MLB.TV, MLB Network

Two of the fiercest rivals in American sports face off this weekend, as the Red Sox head down to New York to face a Yankees team that has struggled for consistency in 2025. The Yankees have only won one of their six meetings with Boston this season, but that could all change this weekend as the bitter rivals jostle for position in the AL East and the playoff picture as a whole. New York is coming off a rare hot streak, which the Red Sox would love to put to an end at Yankee Stadium.
