The opening week of the NFL

As is the case in most seasons, the schedule makers have served up a mouth-watering clash to get proceedings underway. The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of the 2023 season’s AFC Championship game. Here, we have two of the best teams in the NFL, led by two of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL. It is the reigning MVP in Lamar Jackson taking on the reigning Super Bowl MVP in Patrick Mahomes. What a way to get things started.

Elsewhere around the league, extra attention will be paid to the Chicago Bears as they host Tennessee in their home opener. Fans from far and wide will be excited to see how Caleb Williams gets on in his first taste of NFL action, as he attempts to give the city of Chicago their first true franchise quarterback.

We have an inter-divisional clash to look forward to in the AFC South, where the Houston Texans will be taking a trip to Indianapolis to do battle with the Colts. Both teams will be eager to get a strong start to campaigns which they hope will lead to an AFC South title, and our first look at the two second-year quarterbacks CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson should be fascinating.

To wrap up a glorious week 1 schedule, last season’s Super Bowl runner-up, the San Francisco 49ers, will entertain the New York Jets. It will be one of the league’s best offenses against one of the league’s best defenses, with fans also eager to finally get a look at Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform.

Other interesting matchups

Now that the schedule has been released, everyone will be picking apart their team’s fixtures and figuring out their route to the playoffs. The fans that will be most upset will be the Cleveland Browns, who have the toughest strength of schedule with a combined .547-win percentage from their opposing teams in 2023. At the other end of the spectrum, things are looking up for Atlanta, who not only get to look forward to life with Kirk Cousins but also the easiest schedule on paper. Week 12: Ravens @ Chargers - Monday Night Football

Of course, the schedule makers were going to give us the Harbaugh Bowl in a prime-time slot. In his new role as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, Jim Harbaugh will host the Baltimore Ravens, led by his brother John Harbaugh. On paper, this should be a pretty one-sided affair in the favor of the Ravens, but you never know. These two head coaches have both enjoyed plenty of success over their careers and their first head-to-head clash since the 2012 season’s Super Bowl promises to be box office.

Week 8: Bears @ Commanders

The 2024 class of quarterbacks was one of the most exciting groups of talents we have seen in years, and Week 8 will pit the top two against each other. Caleb Williams at number one overall for Chicago was soon followed by the selection of Jayden Daniels at number two overall by Washington. The pair have a lot of pressure on their shoulders, and each one will want to earn the bragging rights and prove themselves as worthy picks.

Week 16: Texans @ Chiefs

The Houston Texans are a popular pick for the offseason winner and a legitimate contender in the AFC. Well, in order to earn that label, they need to prove themselves against the best, and they will get the opportunity to do just that in Week 16 against the reigning Super Bowl champs. CJ Stroud dazzled as a rookie, and here he will get a chance to go into Arrowhead and prove his quality against arguably the most talented quarterback to ever play the game.
