The Houston Texans’ trip to Minnesota is our pick of the nationally broadcast NFL preseason games this weekend. This is primarily due to the fact that all signs point towards sophomore quarterback J.J. McCarthy playing significant time. McCarthy is undoubtedly one of the biggest storylines of the 2025 season, taking over a roster that is loaded on both sides of the ball. Sam Darnold almost got this team the one-seed in 2024, and Vikings fans will be expecting big things if McCarthy can settle in and deliver at an even higher level.

PGA Tour Golf: FedEx St. Jude Championship

The FedEx St. Jude Championship is the first of three playoff events to close out the latest, thrilling PGA Tour season. TPC Southwind is the venue of choice, hosting the top 70 players in the season-long standings. Only the top 50 make it through to the next stage of playoff action, in the form of the BMW Championship, so there is a lot on the line.
Scottie Scheffler is the clear-cut favorite, helped out by the fact that Rory McIlroy is taking the week off, as he is already qualified for the BMW. Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, and several more will be vying for that top spot though, with plenty more drama expected to unfurl at the bottom of the leaderboard as well.
