Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants: Arizona’s Missing Explosives Favor a Lower-Scoring Game

New York’s conservative post-Dart offense and Arizona’s lack of explosive plays make Under 44.5 the best of the available numbers.

Arizona’s 30-point performance in San Francisco came on 87 offensive snaps, not a wave of explosive gains. That distinction matters against a Giants team likely to protect Jameis Winston and play through its defense again.

New York’s offense has narrowed

New York’s first game without Jaxson Dart produced a 12-7 win, four field goals and only 238 yards against Tennessee. In difficult weather, John Harbaugh had Jameis Winston throw 22 times while the Giants ran it 33 times. Winston finished with 118 passing yards, took three sacks and, most importantly for New York’s preferred script, avoided a turnover.

The weather offered a legitimate excuse for the limited offense, but the personnel concerns did not disappear with the rain. Dart is out for at least the remainder of the regular season, while left tackle Andrew Thomas and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. did not practice Wednesday. Even if Thomas returns, the Giants have every reason to keep Winston in manageable situations rather than turn this into a high-volume passing game.

That makes Giants +2.5 tempting but not quite strong enough. New York’s quarterback and protection questions lower both its floor and its ability to create separation.

Arizona’s 30 points need context

Arizona’s 30 points against San Francisco are the clearest argument against an under. The Cardinals also leaned heavily on rookie Jeremiyah Love, who produced 109 scrimmage yards and handled 26 touches. That is a healthier offensive formula than the one Arizona showed in its 31-7 loss to Seattle.

Still, the San Francisco game required 87 offensive snaps. Arizona has produced only two passes of at least 20 yards all season and four runs of at least 10. Jacoby Brissett is completing 70.1 percent of his throws, but his 5.6 yards per attempt ranks last among quarterbacks who have started all three games. The Cardinals can move the chains; they have not consistently shortened drives with chunk plays.

Brian Burns’ season-ending knee injury creates a real concern for the Giants’ defense. Brissett has been dramatically better from a clean pocket, and New York must replace its top veteran pass rusher. But Arizona’s preference for underneath throws and ball security — one turnover and no fumbles through three games — still points toward sustained drives rather than quick scores or short fields.

The extra point matters

Arizona -2.5 asks a low-explosive offense to create road margin, while backing New York requires trust in a reshuffled offense and a defense missing Burns. The total avoids choosing between those uncomfortable sides.

My projection is Arizona 23, New York 17. Paying six additional cents for Under 44.5 rather than taking Under 43.5 is worthwhile because a 24-20 finish lands directly on 44. The recommendation is Under 44.5 at -110 with BetMGM.
