The Market Leader in US Sports Betting

Thinking about signing up for FanDuel? Here’s what you actually need to know before you do. FanDuel didn’t set out to be America’s biggest sportsbook.

It started as a daily fantasy sports platform in 2009, built an audience of millions of sports fans who were comfortable putting money on player performances, and when the Supreme Court opened the door for legal sports betting in 2018, it already had the product instincts and the user base that most competitors had to build from scratch.

That head start shows. Today it controls roughly 40% of the US online sports betting market, more than any other operator, and holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating across over 4.3 million App Store reviews.

The product reflects where it came from. The same-game parlay builder is the best in the US market, built by a company that understood how sports fans actually want to engage with games. The app is fast and intuitive in a way that feels native rather than bolted on.

Withdrawals via PayPal or debit typically clear within 24 hours. Where it falls short is loyalty, existing-user promos are thin and there is no meaningful rewards program for sportsbook bettors.

For most bettors, FanDuel is the obvious starting point. Just don’t make it your only one.

FanDuel’s new user promo is one of the simplest structures in the market. The main caveat: the $150 only lands if your first bet wins. BetMGM refunds up to $1,500 win or lose regardless of outcome, so if you want a safety net on your first wager, those books have the edge.

For a $5 qualifying bet the downside is small, but it’s worth knowing before you place it. Since the bonus only triggers on a win, most bettors are better off using their first wager on a moderate favorite rather than a long shot.

There are no odds restrictions, so anything from a -200 moneyline to a spread or total works. Bonus bets can be split across multiple wagers rather than used in one lump sum, and winnings are fully withdrawable. The bonus stake itself is not returned.

Unlike some competitors, FanDuel runs the same welcome offer across all eligible states. No state-specific variations to navigate.

How to Claim the FanDuel Bonus

  1. Download the FanDuel app or go to sportsbook.fanduel.com
  2. Select your state and create a new account
  3. Deposit at least $5
  4. Place any bet of at least $5, with no odds restrictions
  5. If your bet wins, $150 in bonus bets are credited within 72 hours

Key Terms & Conditions

  • Must be 21+ (18+ in DC, KY, WV) and physically located in a licensed state
  • Bonus bets expire 7 days after being credited and are non-withdrawable
  • Ineligible bets: cashed-out wagers, bets using bonus funds or profit boost tokens
  • One offer per new customer

FanDuel Promotions for Existing Users

FanDuel’s ongoing promos rotate with the sports calendar and vary by state and betting history, so what’s available to you one week may not be there the next.

That inconsistency is a genuine weakness, and if a structured rewards program matters to you, DraftKings and BetMGM both offer more predictable ongoing value. What FanDuel does offer are several recurring formats that show up reliably enough to plan around.

  • Profit Boosts: Daily boosts on selected markets, typically 25–50% on SGPs and parlays. Opt in through the Promotions tab and apply the token to your bet slip before placing.
  • Bet Protect+: FanDuel’s injury protection add-on for NBA player props. Pay a flat 3% fee on your stake and if your player exits the game hurt, straight bets are refunded in cash and parlay legs are dropped with the bet recalculated. Covers the full game. Not available in CT, MA, NC, NJ, PA, or TN, as those states get free first-quarter coverage with bonus bet refunds instead
  • Daily Shuffle: Free NFL-season parlay game running Monday through Saturday. Add one leg per day for a shot at a share of $100,000 in prizes. Available during the NFL season only.
  • MLB Daily Dinger: Free daily pick during baseball season. Choose a player to hit a home run and if they go yard, you receive a Profit Boost Token to use on any MLB wager the next day.
  • Free Play Hub: A dedicated section in the app with no-cost prediction games and contests year-round.

Refer a Friend: You and a friend each receive $50 in bonus bets once they sign up, deposit, and place a qualifying wager. Available in most states, though availability varies and Missouri is currently excluded. Here is how to send a referral:

  1. Once they sign up through your link and complete a qualifying wager, the bonus bets are credited to both accounts within 72 hours. Check the Promotions tab for the exact qualifying amount in your state
  2. Open the app and go to the Promotions tab
  3. Find the Refer a Friend offer and tap your unique referral link
  4. Share the link with your friend via text, email, or social media

Does FanDuel Have a Rewards Program?

One of the most common criticisms of FanDuel is that sportsbook bettors get nothing back for their volume. No points, no tiers, no perks. FanDuel has two loyalty programs, but which one applies to you depends entirely on where you are and what you’re betting on.

FanDuel Players Club is the DFS-based program. All accounts are enrolled automatically, and you earn FanDuel Points by entering paid daily fantasy contests rather than by placing sports bets.

Points determine your monthly tier status, and rewards include free plays, profit boosts, and bonus bets. If you only use the sportsbook and never touch DFS, this program effectively does nothing for you.

FanDuel Casino Rewards Club launched in October 2025 and is only available in NJ, MI, PA, and WV, which are the four states where FanDuel Casino operates. It’s a proper tiered program with five levels where you earn 1 to 3 points per real-money dollar spent.

Higher tiers unlock weekly bonus back offers ranging from 5% at Level 1 up to 25% at the top tier, plus exclusive reward boxes and birthday bonuses. Tier status resets monthly based on your activity.

If you’re a sportsbook-only bettor in most states, FanDuel simply doesn’t reward your activity the way its competitors do. That’s a real gap and one of the clearest reasons to keep a DraftKings or BetMGM account running alongside it.

How to Create a FanDuel Account

The signup process is straightforward and most accounts are verified instantly. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Click the button at the top of this page to go to FanDuel Sportsbook, or download the app on iOS or Android
  2. Select your state and tap Join Now
  3. Enter your email address and create a password
  4. Provide your personal details including full name, date of birth, home address, and the last four digits of your SSN for identity verification
  5. Make a first deposit of at least $5 using any available payment method, noting that credit cards are not accepted as of March 2, 2026
  6. Place your first cash wager of at least $5 on any market to activate the welcome offer

You must be 21 or older (18+ in DC, KY, and WV) and physically located in a state where FanDuel operates. Geolocation runs automatically when you open the app so a VPN will not work.

Most accounts are verified instantly using the details you provide, but if FanDuel cannot confirm your identity automatically you will be asked to upload a government-issued photo ID before placing your first bet. This is a one-time process and usually resolves within minutes.

How to Place a Bet on FanDuel

Once your account is funded, placing a bet takes about 30 seconds. Here is how it works:

  1. Open the app and select a sport from the navigation menu at the top of the home screen
  2. Browse the available games and tap on the one you want to bet on
  3. Select your market, for example moneyline, spread, total, or player prop, and tap the odds to add it to your bet slip
  4. To build a parlay, keep adding selections from the same or different games and they will combine automatically in the slip
  5. Enter your stake in the bet slip, review the potential payout, and tap Submit Bet
  6. Your bet appears under My Bets where you can track it, cash out if eligible, or add more legs

For same-game parlays, select a game and tap the SGP tab to see all eligible markets you can combine within that matchup.

FanDuel Sports Coverage and Betting Markets

Flutter Entertainment’s proprietary trading operation powers odds across 20+ sports, and the depth across NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL is as good as anything in the US market.

The same infrastructure runs Betfair and Paddy Power globally, which means fast odds updates and competitive pricing on major markets. Where it falls short is niche sports and prop market depth, where DraftKings still has the edge.

Sports Coverage

  • NFL: Game lines, alternative spreads and totals, player props, touchdown scorers, futures, and same-game parlays. One of the deepest NFL menus available.
  • NBA: Full player and team prop coverage, divisional and award futures, and SGP options throughout the regular season and playoffs.
  • MLB: Game lines, first five innings, run-by-inning markets, hitter and pitcher props, and same-game parlays on every game. Note that MLB player props are now capped at $500 per wager following a league-operator agreement in April 2026.
  • NHL: Moneyline, puckline, totals, player props, and period-specific markets through the regular season and Stanley Cup playoffs.
  • College Football and Basketball: Spread, totals, moneyline, and halftime markets on Division I games. Strong coverage during bowl season and March Madness.
  • Soccer: MLS, Premier League, Champions League, and major international competitions with match result, totals, and player props.
  • Golf: Tournament winner, finishing position, head-to-heads, and round-by-round live betting. FanDuel applies dead-heat rules on finishing position ties, unlike BetMGM which pays in full. You will also see “Winner w/o” markets, which means “winner without” a specific player, letting you bet on who wins the tournament if a named favorite is excluded from the result.
  • MMA and Boxing: Fight winner, method of victory, and round props on UFC and major boxing cards.
  • Tennis, Motorsports, Darts, Cricket, Rugby, Lacrosse, Cycling, Aussie Rules: Available with varying market depth depending on the event.

One genuine advantage FanDuel has over DraftKings on SGPs: FanDuel displays the individual odds of each leg as you build, giving you transparency on how the price is being constructed. DraftKings only shows the combined parlay price, so you’re building blind on the individual components.

If you’re a prop bettor who likes to scan markets across multiple games, FanDuel’s navigation will frustrate you. Markets are organized by individual game rather than by prop type, which means finding, say, all available first basket scorers for tonight’s NBA slate requires clicking into each game separately.

What FanDuel’s Odds Actually Cost You

On standard spreads and totals across the NFL and NBA, FanDuel sits close to DraftKings and is generally within a half-point of the market consensus.

Where the gap shows up most clearly is on props, where it’s not uncommon to find both sides of a player prop at -115 on FanDuel where DraftKings has the same market at -110. Over hundreds of bets that difference compounds into real money.

Average book edge by sport. Lower is better.

FanDuel actually leads DraftKings on NFL pricing and posts lower vig than BetMGM across every sport in the table. The drag on its overall number comes from MLB and NBA where its vig runs higher than DraftKings. Bet365 is the sharpest book overall but is only available in 15 states, which limits how useful that comparison is for most bettors.

FanDuel is not where you want to be if odds quality is your primary concern. It’s where you want to be for the SGP product, the app, and the payout speed. Running FanDuel alongside DraftKings for line shopping gives you the best of both.

FanDuel’s Live Betting Experience

FanDuel’s live betting product is one of the best in the US market. The interface is clean, odds update in real time, and same-game parlays are fully integrated into in-play betting so you can build SGPs while the game is running rather than having to navigate away.

In-Game Betting Options

  • Real-time odds updates across NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football, soccer, tennis, MMA, and more, typically refreshing within seconds of in-game events
  • Live SGP builder fully integrated, so you can add in-play legs to a same-game parlay without leaving the live betting screen
  • Cash Out available on eligible live straight bets and parlays, letting you lock in a return or cut losses before the final result
  • Live scoreboards and game data displayed alongside markets so you can follow the action and bet simultaneously
  • Bet Tracking launched December 2025, lets you follow your active wagers in real time while watching NBA and NHL games through the app in select markets
  • 100+ betting markets per game on major NFL and NBA matchups during peak periods
  • Live props available across player performance markets on major sports

What You Can Stream

In-app streaming is limited compared to bet365, which offers significantly broader live coverage. Select tennis, soccer, and other events are available to stream directly in the app, but NFL, NBA, and MLB games are not streamed through the sportsbook product.

The broader FanDuel TV ecosystem is separate. FanDuel Sports Network is a regional cable network carrying select NBA and NHL games in specific markets, though the network has been in significant financial difficulty through 2026 with multiple regional stations shutting down.

For bettors, the practical streaming offering inside the sportsbook app is functional but not a strength.

What Makes the App Special

Navigation runs off a sport-based menu at the top of the home screen, with live betting, promotions, and open bets all one tap away. Beyond the basics:

  • In-app player stats integrated directly into prop markets, so you can check recent form without switching to another app, and it is one of the few sportsbooks to offer this natively
  • Popular SGPs surfaced on the home screen showing what other bettors are backing in real time
  • Parlay Hub consolidates enhanced SGP prices and pre-built parlays across the day’s slate in one place
  • Bet 101 section with educational video content covering bet types, useful for newer bettors
  • My Spend dashboard tracks your wagering history and lets you set deposit limits and timeouts directly in the app

The Cracks in an Otherwise Strong App

Cash Out disappears on certain markets mid-game without warning, and FanDuel’s own terms acknowledge they cannot guarantee its availability. Users report this consistently in App Store reviews.

The app also requires frequent re-authentication when switching between apps while line shopping, which adds friction if you run multiple books. Prop market browsing by category across multiple games is the other weak point, and something DraftKings handles better.

How Fast Does FanDuel Pay Out?

FanDuel’s $1 minimum withdrawal is the lowest of any major US sportsbook. BetMGM starts at $20, DraftKings at $5. If you want your money out fast and in small amounts, that difference is real.

PayPal and debit card withdrawals typically clear within 24 hours, no fees on FanDuel’s end, and the Play+ prepaid card is faster still. Credit cards are no longer accepted for deposits as of March 2, 2026, including when linked through PayPal, Venmo, or Apple Pay.

Most methods require you to have previously deposited using that same method, and the exceptions are online banking, check, and cash at counter, which are available for withdrawals without a prior deposit.

Your first withdrawal triggers a one-time identity verification process requiring photo ID and proof of address, so having those ready speeds things up considerably. During peak periods like the Super Bowl or March Madness, processing times can run slightly longer than usual.

Getting Help at FanDuel

Live chat connects within minutes for routine questions and agents generally handle deposits, bonuses, and app issues well. Where it breaks down is anything requiring escalation, like compliance holds, suspended accounts, or disputed withdrawals can stretch across days with no clear resolution path.

How to Reach FanDuel

The Support Gap

No 24/7 human support means anything that goes wrong after 12:30am ET waits until morning. Phone runs on callbacks with long reported wait times. For a sportsbook handling this volume, that’s a real gap.

Account suspensions are a recurring complaint. FanDuel’s compliance process flags unusual activity around identity or payments, and while most accounts are restored within 1 to 5 business days, you can’t access your funds during that window. Keeping your ID verified and account details current reduces the risk considerably.

Where Is FanDuel Available?

Arkansas went live in March 2026, bringing FanDuel to 25 states plus DC and Puerto Rico. Only DraftKings covers more ground. You must be physically located in a licensed state to place bets, but you can sign up and access odds from anywhere. A geolocation check runs automatically when you open the app, and a VPN will not bypass it.

California, Texas, and Florida remain the three largest states without legal online sports betting and consequently without FanDuel access. Wisconsin legalized online sports betting in April 2026 but limited it exclusively to tribal operators, which means FanDuel is not among the licensed books there.
