Charlotte FC vs Inter Miami CF
Our pick Charlotte FC +1.5 Spread / -122 / 2.0 units

The handicap balances Miami’s elite finishing against Charlotte’s scoring depth, a series dominated by narrow margins and meaningful seeding incentives for both clubs.

Charlotte still has scoring depth

Allan Saint-Maximin’s 89th-minute red card against Orlando removes an important ball carrier from Charlotte’s lineup, while Tim Ream remains out with a lower-body injury. Those absences make Inter Miami’s attacking matchup look inviting, particularly with Lionel Messi entering Decision Day on 26 league goals.

Charlotte’s recent surge has not been dependent on one attacker, however. Liel Abada scored an 18-minute hat trick in the 4-0 win over CF Montréal, with Pep Biel assisting all three goals and reaching 29 goal contributions for the season. Four different players then scored in the 4-0 victory over Orlando.

Saint-Maximin was one of them, but Abada, Biel and Idan Toklomati still give Charlotte enough transition threat to punish Miami if the hosts push numbers forward. For this handicap, Charlotte does not need to sustain its eight-goal burst. It only needs to avoid losing by two.

Miami’s margin is the question

Miami’s comeback at New England showed why it deserves to be favored. Messi and Germán Berterame overturned a second-half deficit, and the win moved Miami to 59 points with a 16-6-11 record. Second place in the East is still at stake, so a passive lineup would be a surprise.

The concern with laying 1.5 goals is that Miami’s superiority does not always produce separation. The New England win finished 2-1, and Miami has drawn 11 of its 33 league games. Its last five include a 2-2 home draw with Cincinnati and a 2-0 road loss to the Red Bulls alongside three victories.

Charlotte’s road defense supplies the strongest argument for Miami -1.5. The Crown conceded eight times across trips to Columbus, Philadelphia and Portland, and Ream’s absence matters against Miami’s movement around the box. Still, two of those games stayed inside this spread, and Charlotte has covered +1.5 in four of its last five overall.

The handicap offers the better price

The totals offer conflicting evidence. Each of Charlotte’s last five matches produced at least four goals, but all five recent meetings with Miami finished below four. That makes the expensive over 3.5 difficult to justify, while Charlotte’s current attacking form works against the plus-money under.

The moneyline is no more appealing. Miami may well win, but -250 leaves little room for the hosts’ draw frequency or Charlotte’s top-four motivation. The Crown can move ahead of Chicago and secure home-field advantage with the right Decision Day results, so there is no reason to treat this as a low-intensity road finale.

A late Charlotte push could expose the bet if Miami is already ahead, especially with Messi operating against a Ream-less back line. The 1.5-goal cushion nevertheless accounts for that risk better than the other available prices. Charlotte FC +1.5 at -122 with FanDuel is the selection.
