Group B – United States, Canada, Martinique, Haiti

Group C – Costa Rica, Jamaica, Suriname, Guadeloupe

Group D – Honduras, Panama, Grenada, Qatar

United States vs Canada

Les Rouges came off with a good start as they opened their Gold Cup journey with a comfortable win over Martinique. The match ended 4-1 but it was Martinique that scored the opening goal. Canada didn’t need much time to equalize and after that it was no doubt which team that was going to win the game. The Canadian side created a number of chances against a team they were expected to pick all three points against.

The US national team began their Gold Cup mission by winning over Haiti with 1-0. The US team went into the game as huge favorites but never managed to turn the expectations into goals and the match ended with a single goal win. Facing Canada will be a whole different task for the US team as they have to make sure to increase the intensity and quality of play against a much stronger side. If they manage to play at their best they should have enough quality to beat the Canadian side who’s without their most important key player, Alphonso Davies.
