Play-in round

New England Revolution vs Montreal Impact

New England Revolution, led by manager Bruce Arena, will hope to bounce back on the winning track when they face the Montreal Impact after having won just one of their last five games. The Revs qualified for the Playoffs some time ago and this will be their second consecutive season in the MLS Cup.

Montreal Impact are also coming from a bad beat having lost five of their seven last games. Thierry Henry, manager of the team, managed to hang on to the Playoff spots by beating D.C. United on Decision Day.

The teams faced each other four times during the season. The Revs got the better out of the Impacts with three wins and one draw. This will be the first ever meeting between the two sides in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Nashville SC vs Inter Miami CF

Two completely different setups will go up against each other at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The success of Nashville SC is built on a strong and solid team who rely on their defensive work and to keep the opposition away from goal. This in comparison to the Inter Miami CF who’ve brought in a lot of big names like Federico Higuaín, Blaise Matuidi and Rodolfo Pizzaro. It will be an interesting fight between two of this season’s new teams where both will hope to add even more success to their first ever MLS season. Two games were played between the two sides during the regular season, one win for Nashville and one draw.

Playoffs – First round

Western Conference

22nd Nov - Sporting Kansas City vs San Jose Earthquakes
22nd Nov - Minnesota United FC vs Colorado Rapids
22nd Nov - Portland Timbers vs FC Dallas
24th Nov - Seattle Sounders FC vs Los Angeles FC

It’s hard to pick one game that’s more interesting than the others here. Seattle Sounders and Los Angeles FC will be a decisive game between two of the favourites to win the MLS Cup. Toronto FC will have a somewhat easier first round as they will face the lowest ranked team of the two Play-in winners. Portland Timbers haven’t won the MLS Cup since 2015 and will be desperate to lift the trophy this season. The game against FC Dallas should be an entertaining one to watch.
