Game Prediction

Liverpool and Manchester City went head-to-head three times last season. Both league meetings ended with a draw while Liverpool came out as the stronger team when they faced each other in the FA Cup semi final. Lots of goals were scored between the two sides with a total of 13 goals over 3 games.

The FA Community Shield normally has a feeling of friendly game around it but with Liverpool and Manchester City on each side we should expect a real fight. Neither of the teams will accept a defeat against its biggest rival for the league trophy, while a win can give a real boost as they’re heading into the new season.

Upon the FA Community Shield, Liverpool will have played a number of more friendly games than Manchester City and will therefore be slightly ahead of their opponents when it comes to sharpness and fitness level. Also, Manchester City has been forced to rule out some of their key players from their pre-season tour in the US due to various injury problems. Of the two teams, Liverpool feels like the better prepared while Manchester City might take on a more friendly game approach.

Probable Lineups:

Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Rodrigo, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Phillips, Silva; Mahrez, Haaland, Grealish

Liverpool: Alison; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Diaz, Nunez, Salah
