Wales vs USA – Preview

Liberty Stadium, Swansea

The U.S. men’s national team hasn’t played a game since the 1-0 win over Costa Rica in the beginning of the year. For many of the players in the squad the season has just started and with an intense match schedule for the European soccer clubs we can expect some rotation in the two upcoming friendlies. Gregg Berhalter has called for a strong squad as he hasn't had to care about too many injuries. Christian Pulisic is back in action for Chelsea after some time out.

Gio Reyna, Weston McKennie and Tim Weah are three players to keep an extra eye on. This could truly be the future of the U.S. national team as they’re all developing well in their clubs where they also get a lot of playing minutes.

The U.S. national team will be Wales first stop during this international break before they take on Ireland and Finland in the UEFA Nations League. The welsh team is having some really strong names in it, not to mention the former Real Madrid player Gareth Bale who’s now back playing for Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League. Wales, who has only lost one of their last 11 games, will be a good test for the U.S. team. Last time the U.S. men’s national team faced European opposition was in 2018 when they lost against Italy (1-0) and England (3-0). Wales and USA have meet only once in the history. That happened back in 2003 in a game that the USA won by 2-0 after goals by Landon Donovan and Eddie Lewis.

The game will be broadcast live on FS1, UniMás and TUDN. Kick-off time is 2:45 p.m. ET.

USA vs Panama

Stadion Wiener Neustadt, Wiener Neustadt

Four days after the game against Wales the U.S. national team is taking on a more well-known opponent in Panama. The game will take place in Austria at Stadion Wiener Neustadt. With only four days between the two games we can expect some new faces coming on for this fixture. This will be the U.S. national team’s last games for 2020, a year they can hopefully finish with only wins.
